ABOUT:

Sensor Salon is a series of explorations around wearable electronics, cultures and services that can emerge from nascent technological economies. This project proposes nail art salons in Los Angeles as fertile ground for creation and deployment of wearable electronics. Nail art has rich culture of playful one-upmanship and material innovation that stems from an active dialogue between nail art wearers and technicians. Deploying cutting edge technology and ubiquitous sensing in nail art salons engages a new type of early adopter. The average full nail set is completely removed and reinstalled every 3-4 weeks. This built in upgrade and update cycle offers wearers room for play and customization and technicians low risk innovation. View Full Project website here.
